Trinity College invites applications for the McGill Visiting Assistant Professor of International Studies. This is a one-year appointment for a recent Ph. D. (within the past five years) who has either received a bachelor’s degree from a non-North American university or else has lived for a substantial period outside the United States. The International Studies Program at Trinity brings together faculty from a diverse array of departments and offers six interdisciplinary undergraduate majors, one in Global Studies and five rooted in regions: African Studies, Asian Studies, Caribbean and Latin American Studies, Middle East Studies, and Russian and Eurasian Studies. The successful candidate will be expected to teach three classes over the course of the year and deliver a research lecture for the college community in the Spring semester. The three classes will normally include our core course, INTS300, which requires students to complete a substantial research paper on a topic of transnational significance from any disciplinary perspective; an introductory course on global interrelations or an area of the world; and one other course related to the candidate’s Ph.D. project.

Trinity College is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer committed to attracting and supporting a faculty of women and men who fully represent the racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity of the United States. We seek applications from minorities, women, and other under-represented groups. However, as per Trinity’s policy on filling non-tenure track, temporary positions, applicants who do not already have legal permission to work in the United States will not be considered.

Review of application materials will begin on February 1, 2013, and continue until the position is filled. Please send a letter of application, a CV, graduate transcripts, a sample of scholarly writing, and at least three letters of reference to Prof. Zayde Antrim, International Studies Program, McCook Building, Trinity College, 300 Summit St., Hartford, CT 06106.
